First Aid and Emergency Care Courses

First aid is the provision of initial care for an illness or injury.

It is usually performed by a lay person to a sick or injured casualty until definitive medical treatment can be accessed.

Certain self-limiting illnesses or minor injuries may not require further medical care past the first aid intervention.

It generally consists of a series of simple and, in some cases, potentially life-saving techniques that an individual can be trained to perform with minimal equipment.

The Australian Lifesaving Academy South Australia provides a range of programs and services and can develop courses to meet your needs. Courses can be provided on demand for corporate, sporting and other groups.

Costs while provided as indicator may change subject to location and requirements.

We provide group discounts and cater for schools, business and community groups.

All courses are subject to minimum and maximum numbers. Maximum course participants is normally 16 to ensure the best quality training experience.

First Aid Courses (also known as Senior First Aid)

16 hours (2 day course) or 8.5 hours (1 day course)

This course prepares you to provide first aid response, life support and management of casualties, the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

This course incorporates the contents of 'Perform CPR' and 'Provide Basic Emergency Life Support'.

Prerequisites - nil.

Renewal required every 3 years (renew CPR competency annually).

$155 per person

Defibrillator

PUAEME010B - Operate a semi automatic defibrillator in an emergency

This course prepares you to use a semi-automatic defibrillator to Workplace standards.

Courses can be tailored to include CPR updates, or to meet your work place requirements.

This course prepares you to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Emergency Life Support

HLTFA201A Provide basic emergency life support - approximately 7 hours

This course prepares you to recognise and respond to life threatening emergencies using basic life support measures.

This course incorporates the contents of 'Perform CPR'

It does NOT incorporate the skills of 'Apply First Aid'

Renew every 3 years (renew CPR competency annually)

Advanced First Aid

HLTFA402B Apply Advanced First Aid

This course prepares you to provide advanced first aid and life support, management of casualties, the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance, and builds on the 'Apply First Aid' course to include additional skills and use of a range of equipment.

The skills and knowledge of this course address specific industry, enterprise or workplace requirements and specific risks and hazards and associated injuries of the workplace.

Prerequisites - 'Apply First Aid' (with current CPR certification)
