People are often surprised to discover Surf Life Saving is a fully accredited training organisation, offering companies, government bodies and other groups a range of professional courses as varied as the Certificate IV Training & Assessment, First Aid, Public Safety and Beach Administration. But when you think about it, lifesaving and training are a perfect fit. The formal passing on of skills and wisdom is something we've been doing for 100 years.

The Australian Lifesaving Academy South Australia is responsible for the delivery of training and is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO number 40110).

Training and Education

Surf Life Saving South Australia Inc. (SLSSA) is known nationally and internationally for its educational activities through the community and through its own membership network. Through this network there extends two clear areas of education.

Beach Safety Education

As the leading provider of surf safety, SLSSA extends its educational activities to coastal, rural, indigenous and international community groups. SLSSA provides a range of programs and educational information through various communication methods. These methods include commercial advertising, school based programs, peak body advice, awareness and self survival courses, educational tours and many more. SLSSA's educational methods assist in preventing drownings and increasing general beach safety. This ensures that all beach users are kept well informed.

Training and Assessment

As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) through the Australian National Training Authority, SLSSA provides quality based training in nationally recognised competencies. Ranging from courses in water safety through to nationally recognised Certificate IV level courses in Training and Assessment, SLSSA has up to 2000 students every year.
