Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter

The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter Service, launched on
1st September 2005 at Government House by the Governor of South
Australia, Her Excellency Marjorie Jackson-Nelson, has extended
SLSSA's patrolling ability to cover a greater number of beaches,
while enhancing existing services provided by clubs.
Surf Life Saving SA is committed to saving lives on the beach and
the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter is going to make a
significant difference to the service we offer South
Australians.
Since 1979, Surf Life Saving South Australia has operated within the aerial services domain, with various changes and a two year absence in this time. However with the support of Westpac, a Helicopter Rescue Service in South Australian coastal areas is again up and running.

The Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter Service is only one part of the Life Saving Support Services Division of SLSSA and concentrates on the white water aquatic environment (coastline) by providing a surveillance and rescue service to support our lifesavers on the beaches and assist members of the public who may get into difficulty. The Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter Service also supports other Emergency Services, such as South Australian Police, Sea Rescue, Coast Guard, Fisheries etc.
The South Australian Government is also a key supporter of the service, having provided funding for approximately an extra 100 patrol hours making a total of approximately 300 patrol hours annually being provided by the Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter service to the South Australian community.
