Patrol Inspections
SLSSA is committed to assisting Clubs in finding opportunities to continuously improve the services each Club provides to its local community. Part of continuous improvement is identifying and understanding the gaps which currently exist in the operational aspects of beach patrols.
Throughout the 2011/2012 season, the elected Patrol Inspector/s will make visitations to each SA Club to assess the patrols efficiency/compliance to operational policy and procedure. The inspection will allow both SLSSA and the Club to identify and better understand where an individual Club meets/does not meet operational requirements.
The inspections are not designed to 'pick' on Clubs but instead they aim at highlighting patrol strengths and weaknesses across the state so that one high standard can be reached and maintained.
The inspections will not cover anything that a normal patrol should not be able to deal with, however as requested please find attached a summary of the various sections (may be revised slightly) that will be looked at during the two (2) inspections to be conducted throughout the season (rescue and resuscitation).
Patrol Inspections to Clubs will be unannounced, and may, and can, occur on any given day, excluding Christmas Day. Should a Club not be in a position to carry out the inspection due to being involved in a rescue, then this should be discussed between the Patrol Captain of the day and the Patrol Inspector. Clubs cannot refuse an inspection simply due to the fact that they cannot be bothered, or they do not have the 'right' people on Patrol for the day.
Please note that the persons conducting patrol inspections are also volunteers and are giving up a great deal of their time, as are you.
Inspections should take no more the 30 minutes.
Inspections will need to be completed by the last patrol on Monday 9 April 2012.
Should there be any further questions please do not hesitate to contact Ashlee Biddle.
