2009 National Coastal Safety Report

Coastal Safety ReportAustralian men are nearly nine times more likely to drown at the beach than women according to the just released Surf Life Saving Australia National Coastal Safety Report.

And it is young men who are most at risk with those aged between 30 and 39 recording the highest number of deaths (overall, men accounted for 88% of coastal drowning deaths in Australia).

Australian Team Selection

Stephanie BallantineCongratulations from everyone in the Surf Life Saving family to Stephanie Ballantine on her selection in the Australian Team to compete in the German Cup.

Following previous performances (including at Arafura games and the Australian Pool Rescue Championships) as well as Stephanie's performance at a national Grand Prix event which was conducted in Adelaide, she was invited to nominate for the Australian Team. She now has the opportunity to represent Australia at the International German Cup 2009, to be conducted in Warendorf, Germany in late November.
